Museums have been always on the list of number one tourist spots. Delhi is no exception when it comes to wooing visitors with its exceptional museums. Museums make one go back into history and relive the past by viewing the artifacts.
National Museum of Delhi is located near India Gate and not very far fromthe famous market of Connaught Place. The massive building does India proud. There is an auditorium on the ground floor. Relics, art and artifacts, paintings, dresses and much more from the pre historic times, Mauryan period, Sangas, Satvahanas, Kushans, Guptas other ruling dynasties of India are displayed here. Special exhibitions of manuscripts, miniature works, Tribal art, Thanjavur Paintings and Maritime Heritage are found on the first floor of the building. On the third floor are displayed old coins, arms and amour, wood carvings, musical instruments and decorative textiles of olden times. National Museum is the largest of its kind in India.
Air Force Museum is another great place that one can visit. It is in the Delhi Cantonment area of New Delhi. The place has a collection of airplanes and weapons used in warfare down the history of Indian Air Force.
National Museum of Natural History is located in the FICCI Building on Barakhambha Road, New Delhi. Children love it for its life sized dinosaur. Its three galleries are an eye opener to environment, natural history and ecology related collections.
